How to reverse your age?




Every one of us wants to stay young, energetic and healthy. As a matter of fact, with every passing day, we lose strength, energy and grow older.  Although the emerging result from scientific research claims the discovery of ‘fountain of youth’ – a discovery that attributes aging process to lack of communication between nuclear DNA and the Mitochondrial DNA.  However this research is in its infancy and needs a long way to cover from animals’ experimentation to develop as an effective human age reversing mechanism. Good news is still there are ways which can allow you to march back on the road to youth.



Reduce your Fitness age
Fitness age is measured by cardiovascular endurance.  A study found that fitness age is better predictor of longevity of age and it can be reduced contrary to chronological age.






Fitness age is determined by body’s ability to take oxygen and utilize it. If your body has low oxygen in-take and utilization compared to other people of your age group, it shows your fitness age is older than your actual age. However, it is possible to turn the clock back and have younger fitness age. What it means? It means with age of 40 one can have fitness age of 30 to 60 depending upon their body’s ability to intake oxygen and its utilization.

A study found that people who have their fitness age significantly above their chronological age have 82% higher risk of dying prematurely than those whose fitness age was same or younger than their actual age. This suggests that fitness age is better predictor of early death’s risk than traditional factors like overweight, blood pressure or smoking.
What you need to do if your fitness age exceeds your actual age? Bring it down with exercise.







Enhance the length of telomeres
Telomeres are caps at the ends of chromosomes that protect them from decaying. They are often referred as plastic tips at the end of shoelaces that keeps them binding. With growing age, telomeres get shorter each time cell divides. When they have shrunk to a certain length, the cell may die or stop dividing.





"A number of studies have shown that as telomeres get shorter, the risk of premature death — and most chronic disease, from heart disease to cancer, even dementia — goes up," said study researcher Dr. Dean Ornish, clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.
Recently, a study conducted to determine what effects lifestyle changes have on length of telomeres; concluded a positive relationship exists among them. A significant increase in length was observed, telomeres increased by an average of 10 percent while in the control group who didn’t adopt lifestyle changes, telomeres shortened by an average of 3 percent, according to results of the study.



The discovery that cell’s aging can be delayed by increasing the length of telomeres means it is possible to reverse your ageing process.






Based on the results of this study, it can safely be inferred that positive changes to the lifestyle help reducing one’s age by enhancing the length of telomeres. If you want to slow down your ageing process or even want to reverse it you need to identify changes to your lifestyle in terms of diet, exercise and stress-management that can enhance the length of telomeres.
